I had painted the background for this piece and then put it aside for around 6 months, not quite sure what it was trying to tell me or how to move forward. One night I had the strangest dream and it was clear how I was supposed to finish the work. The bears (yes there are 2!) the wildflowers and the ethereal feel of the forest was all vivid and calling to me to paint. This painting was my attempt to interpret what I had imagined.
The original work is painted on yupo, a synthetic paper and is 26 x 40" Painted with watercolour squuezed directly onto the paper I used a reductive technique to lift the paint and create the shapes so that they seem to organically appear from the painting.
